Well squares did go into the early nineties. If I had to pick a truck for it’s drivetrain during the squares era—first gen Cummins all day. If I’m playing by 73-87 rules, a 75 F350 supercab with a 460 big block. Oh wait, I forgot I have one…

I do like the internationals as well…and the dodges…and the jeeps, I don’t descriminate much.

Since I didn't vote, that's the same as None of the Above.

Would've just kept driving my blue with white down the middle 71 Chevy Cheyenne.
Had the fancy genuine simulated wood grain, and the tool box built-in in front of the right rear wheel.

With this list... maybe a rented u-haul furniture hauler. Or a mid seventies dodge with a 225 slant 6 with an air conditioner, automatic. With an 8 track... gotta have an 8 track.

For non GM, I'd choose a Jeep J20 or a Cherokee Chief. I'd like to own one of those, some day maybe. A Wagoneer would also work, but two doors would be ideal.
I like the old Wagoneer's. I have a customer at the shop that has an 84 in very nice unrestored condition. Put an S&J motor in it for him a few years back. I'd enjoy daily driving a Wagoneer, but there's a lot of AMC parts in there some of which are getting harder to find, but still takes a GM key!

With a note like that it sounds like something happened. I had a friend with 72 C30, good trucks for sure, I'd drive one.

I would try to find a 74 or 75 international, I had a 74 3/4 ton 20 years ago that I wish I had kept.
I almost added them to the poll, but figured they'd be too rare for people to consider. The only person I knew that had one of the last light duty Internationals was my grandfather, and that was back when they were still in production. I've seen plenty of Scouts and a few carry-alls, but the fullsize pickups seem non-existent. It would be super cool to own one, just because of rarity alone.

I made the 73-87 restriction, and disregarded the 88-91 RV series trucks, because I knew the results would be skewed to the Ram trucks for having a Cummins. The 6BT Cummins engine was introduced in '84, but didn't appear from the factory in a light duty truck until '89. During this 5 year interval, there were some shops converting Bullnose Fords, and squares. I always wondered if some Chrysler exec didn't accidentally stumble across one of these early conversions and get an idea.

That sounds identical to the truck my neighbor left to rot in his yard until it turned to dust. I wanted to save it, but it was too far gone.

Let's have a little fun and see which of the other trucks we hate the least.
My dad had a 78 1/2 F-150 King Cab LB. I had to sell it after his stroke. I really wanted to do a SB & 4x4 conversion with the truck. Here it is in it's natural habitat unfortunately (on a trailer). I had an IHC truck that I was fond of as well. It was my mud and trail truck.

Bullnose Ford for me, I've always liked them. My grandpa had a brown/tan XLT Lariat shortbed 2wd with the 351 when I was younger and then in HS we had one in our shop class that was painted hugger orange, was a shortbed stepper, had a hopped up 351 and custom black tuck and roll interior. Tried bidding on it for the silent auction at the end of the year and got outbid by $5. I'd still like to have one someday

My parents had Wagoneers growing up. A '72 and a '78. They were ok- always like the Cherokee Chief better. Neighbors had one.

Before I bought my square, I was looking at everything. I looked at a bullnose Ford, I looked at a Dodge. I thought the squares would be out of my price range for a toy but I found one. I'm not brand loyal, I initially wanted a 67-72 bumpside Ford. The biggest problem I faced was finding something in upstate NY that wasn't all rusted out.

I owned an '84 F250 that we cut the twin traction beam front out of it and converted it to a Dana 60 front and Dana 70 rear. was a 460, automatic truck. Had it through high school, was a fun truck to run i'm not gonna lie. My other soft spot is a mid-late '70s Ford 3/4-1 ton 4 wheel drive with cab lights! But my first true truck love has always been an early '80s chevy truck before they were called square bodies!
