So as usual, I started a task - get my AC working - and then I got distracted with other things.

* Why aren't my dash lights working?

So while I was trying to take out my cluster, I removed the lens and tried out some plastic polish I had laying around with a foam pad in a cordless drill. It worked really good.

So I did the rest of it...

It got rid of the yellow and looks pretty darn good.

In that time, I managed to get most of the dash lights working but not the right blinker indicator, which is by far the hardest light to reach. I tried reseating it as that fixed other lights. And then I clicked the blinker and kaboom. My blinker broke.

So off to the auto parts store that actually had this in stock. It went in fine and now works so much better than before.

So finally I could work on fixing my AC...but that's another story.

I just love seeing that 74 olive green. One of my trucks is getting painted that color next time I paint one. I need to polish my gauge lens on my 76 too because I can't see through mine at all.

That turned out really nice!

I'll need to do the same thing to the dash lens for my pickup I just got. I'm working on the suspension and installing new carpet in it first though.

I did my gauge lens last year. This might sound crazy, but on a whim, I tried some Mothers Aluminum Wheel polish I had laying around. My lens was pretty crappy, so I figured if it didn't work...no big loss. Anyways, I tried it out and it made my lens look damn near new. I just rubbed it on by hand with a microfiber cloth, flipped the cloth and buffed it out. I wish I had some before and after pics because I was surprised on how well it worked. And just for comparison, my lens looked a lot like Chris64's lens in his before pic shown above.

Here's what I used...
