Part number needed

Well, the truck was built Feb 1978, so I guess it might be a midyear thing with a few trucks. A few people in other forums have said the same thing but did not elaborate on what they had. The threads were about 8yrs old so I don't think asking would do any good. I guess I might go to one of the 4x4 magazines and see what they say.

I guess I'm left wondering why there would be that much difference in the size and shape of a bellhousing between three transmissions that all have the same engine bolt pattern. i would think they would be of similar proportions, since they all bolt to the same chevy engines. I guess I need to slide under My '87 and '88 and see what covers are on the 700r4s that they have.
