Y'all need to fix yer S**t so you're not spending so much time lying on your back underneath your trucks staring at your shaft. This is how threads about types of oil and improving gas mileage get started.

How the helle is g hay and g hey sensored words when they aren't even real words?! Irritating.
About like it is called political speech if speaking of someone else making 15 hr as a restaurant manager but not if you yourself is making 15 hour

I paint, plate, or powdercoat pretty much every part I remove. Looks better, cleans easier, easier to spot leaks or damage etc.

Most of my parts are powdercoated in 60-70% semi-gloss black. Its very easy to touch up with Dupli-Color Rust Barrier spray paint.

I prefer powdercoating as it is relatively inexpensive and a perfect, durable finish every time.

If the rest of the truck is purty, why wouldn't you paint the 'shafts? Didn't Nitty Gritty Dirt Band sing a song about em? "long and dark, shiny and black" oh wait, that was about Cadillac's... But the same still applies here!

I voted it was g@y, but I was thinking it being some g@y color or painted like a barber pole. But painting it black, or to match the undercarriage color scheme, not g@y.

I’m comfortable enough with with my “man card” to comment

If it was something I took some pride in how it looked, and I had the driveshaft out for service, I would paint it before it went back in. I agree, why would you take the time and effort to detail the bottom of your project vehicle and not give the driveshaft the same attention?

However, daily driver, or just a beater, who cares what it looks like?!

So when I painted the chassis on the old Freedom Wagon, the bare metal rusty driveshafts got a gleaming coat of black paint as well.
In fact the only underbody and chassis parts that didn’t get painted were the engine/trans/tcase, shocks and a couple spots I initially missed on accident.

Buddy (who is a total gearhead and has cranked out a few awesome looking old Chevy trucks) was like “that’s not right. Driveshafts aren’t supposed to be painted, supposed to be rusty just like they came from the factory.”
I know a shot coat of paint isn’t going to hurt them, nor will it help them physically. Not like they’re going to rust out.
But painted steel driveshafts, **** or not ****? Did I break some fundamental restoration rule?
LOL.
Let’s hear it!

I had mine on a 1967 Mustang restoration "Chromed" of all things.... Looked great at World of Wheels and with mirrors placed right really help set off the under carriage ... Go figure !

My local driveline shop paints them with a heavy coat of grey metallic paint but the Tom Woods drivelines he sells as clear coated steel look pretty rad.

I say paint them
