Paint in pieces

Im about to paint my truck and it is in pieces would it be safe to paint different sections at different days, it will be bc/cc blue metallic. maybe doors then fenders, cab, bed without to much color change, never painted before

Being a metallic I would shoot it all at one time assembled. You want the metallic to lay flat evenly across the whole truck.

It's been about 20 years since I've painted a car and it was single stage paint. I painted several cars but only one with metallic, a '72 Suburban. I had a couple of places where the metallic didn't lay right.

For a rookie I'd recommend painting metallic with the truck assembled.

just a difference in air pressure will cause the metallic to lay different and can actually change the color a little bit.

even different amounts of reducer can change some colors

if you paint it in pieces do it all at the same time

I've heard that it depends on the hue of the metallic. Some color will turn out fine even when painted in pieces.
