Overdrive not working

I just checked the plunge right above the solenoid and it moves easily a short 1/4 of an inch. I cross my fingers and hope the new converter will fix the problem next week. happy weekend and thanks for all your help.

That’s about all the movement you will see.

If you still have the old solenoid, drive a bb or something similar in the end of the solenoid. Reinstall the solenoid, filter, pan, fluid, etc. With the solenoid blocked with a bb the converter should be locked, as soon as it shifts to second gear.

I'm on my way to take down the transmission already, new converter arrives Monday. let see. I will report the result.

Happy Monday. A rebuilt converter was what needed. My TCC are there again. So nice, take of with the camper tomorrow!

Great to hear that! After watching tons of vids from Precision Transmission on how the 700R4/4L60/4L60E works I know that a gasket on the input shaft may be a cause of TCC not engaging. When it flattens it does not allow pressure to build up and the TC clutch may burn up.

Interesting. That little o-ring was as you say very flat. So the "sad" thing can be, it was that ring, not the converter. But Im still happy.
