Anybody in readerland have a junk old school large single button style garage door opener remote?

I’m looking for one to install in my son’s 92 Yukon overhead console. My plan is to gut the remote with the exception of the activation switch, and extend wires from the switch to a remote to the modern style remotes for a modern garage door opener.

I would THINK I could McGuyver a way to make it work, first step is finding a remote.

I need a remote like this:

To fit in a overhead console like this:

I bet an old school surface mount horn button would fit in there. Just an idea.
That’s exactly what I’m planning to do. A block of wood cut to fit in the opener pocket, with a push button placed in the correct spot should work.

I figured there were lots of those remotes out there, why engineer something that is easy to find? How wrong I was!!!

Apparently, there is a bit of market demand for those old school openers. I placed an ad on Facebook and a couple other groups, people wanted more for those remotes than a new garage door opener would cost.

When I get a completed “prototype” I’ll be sure to post my creativity!!

This is what we have for the entrance gate at the RV park. They rent them to long-term residents; makes it nice to just push a button instead of getting out to do the code when it's bad weather.
The GMT 400 console uses mini LEGO style blocks to set the level for your garage door opener. These aren't always in the used consoles and they are VERY hard to find.
