Old Gas Can

I found this old gas can, at a swap meet a few years ago. I think I paid 5 bucks for it. Brought it home, put it out in the shop and forgot about it. Today I'm out in the shop cleaning up and putting stuff where it belongs. I find this little old gas can. I decided to clean it up, sand blasted it, and gave it a new coat of paint. I think I'm going to put some car related stickers and hang it up in the rafters in my shop.

I'll be dipped. I had no idea you could still get them. I haven't seen one in 20-25 years. Maybe it's not as cool as I think it is.

My favorites are the old metal 1 gallon can like paint stripper comes in. Strip them, paint them to match the vehicle and have lettering(Water, Fuel etc.) put on them. I've seen them in classics at car shows.

That's actually a really nice safety can. Probably was pretty expensive back in the day. That FM diamond is for FM Global, an insurance company and testing service. Anything that's FM approved has been through a more rigorous testing than others. It's a step above UL listing, if you've heard of Underwriters Laboratories

Was cleaning out the barn the other day and found 3 - 5 gal military Jerry cans that I had forgotten about. Was using them a few years ago for diesel for my tractor. Will clean them up and put in our youth’s fundraiser sale next month

Love the old stuff.

Check the gasket under the lid. That way your gas doesn't evaporate if you are going to use it.
