I decided to take the basket case over to a buddy's house to show him what i've accomplished and to see if what I've done will convince him to get his 76 Heavy Half (454/th400) back on the road. Well since i had the truck out i finally decided to see if the truck would behave it's self on the highway and to see if the truck could go faster than 45. I took that little I6 in second (and a foot on the floor) onto I10. I hit 55 in 3rd and that truck shook rattled rolled and was probably the scariest ride i've ever been on. I had it figured that the truck would either blow up or put me into a retaining wall. I lived and i do know that the truck can now roll on the interstate and that ti will do at least 55......... it's the small victories that i live for.

I’m thinking my highway experience will be similar with my 83 K20, I’m really not too eager for the white knuckle ride. Thinking I’ll try it early Saturday morning when traffic very light.

death wobble in my nissan pathfinder i fixed with polyeurathane bushings .

Highly unlikely it was DW in a C10.

Another reason I “love” this 86 and didn’t cringe forking over a few more Benjis than I’d hoped.
During the test drive, flat peddled that mfer on the on-ramp, on old Azz tires that definitely didn’t have enough air in them for hi speed maneuvers. And I let out just below the stopper peg on the 85mph speedo (which by my calculations and the 4000rpms on the tach was an easy 90+ mph) and the scariest part of it was the gas gauge was planted on E and it wasn’t my truck and I still didn’t know if the tank selector worked!

A friend had a 58 F250 4x4. Cool truck. Had a 428 in it, and the truck would develop death wobble at 80. My friend figured out if he gassed it and yanked the steering wheel it would stop. I rode in it a few times when that happened and I tell you it was scary. But, it smoothed out, so there's that.

It looked like this truck, except it had chrome bumpers to match chrome grille and had wider wheels and tires on it.

Appreciate the responses although it wasn’t that exciting. That was my point. She drove straight and smooth.

I bought a '84 K1500 a while back that sat for several years, I finally got it to start and run, and drove down an empty road. The rotten brake line on one of the front wheels ended up rupturing, luckily I wasn't far from home and not moving very fast. I now carefully examine rubber brake lines on any used vehicle. No death wobble so far, it's driven pretty smooth by solid axle 4x4 standards.
