Hey, Lugnut, that's a nice looking truck you have. What color is the interior, not red I hope?
Thanks and red it is, how did you guess. My ‘76 isn’t as nice as it looks in the picture, but is a still a worker. This the only picture I have of the inside right now.

I have one that I bought new for my 1975, unfortunately, the snorkel on the air cleaner housing is in the way. You can have it for the cost of shipping. I may have bought two, if I find the one still in the package you can have that one. They are both chrome. I'll go look for them. Let me know if you're interested.

Could you put your valve cover on the other side or flip the front-to-back (If it was not too far back that is) to get it to clear?

Yes, I would have to switch valve covers. They're not leaking so I won't flip them. I dont really need the extension. When I change oil, I just remove the air cleaner and I never have to add oil between oil changes. It was more of "making it easier" thing.

Thanks again Memaloose, it worked out great and made it easy to add oil without having to use a funnel.

Looks great! I'm glad it was what you needed. It was just sitting on my bench gathering dust.
Nice shiny valve cover. One of these days, I'll take a picture of mine.

Thanks, It needed a new sets of gaskets so while I had them off I put a new coat of rattle can on them.

Your engine looks just like my grandfathers old truck. Just climb in the engine bay have a seat and work away with room to spare.

The gasket is just a thin piece of rubber about a 1/16" thick, but you could easily cut one out of a piece of cork.

You're right, no problem at all working under the hood, everything is easily accessible. It's simple and reliable, parts are common and most everything is not metric.
NAPA probably carries the gaskets and if you're careful, you can work them on and off.
