Hi folks, first off, this forum has been incredibly helpful in the short time I’ve been on here. Just wanted to start off by saying thanks...

I’m really, really interested in putting an OD into my K30 this next year. Based on my reading here, if I wanted to NV4500 swap this truck, I’d only need:

NV4500 from 4x4 (duh)
Clutch disk for NV
Bell housing machined to fit NV
Adapter for NP205 / No adapter with an NP208

And the 95+ models have closer gear ratios, correct? Could I pick an NV out of a Dodge and bolt it up to the 465 bell housing I have now?

Most of the info was pulled from the NV swap thread below. Just want to double check I understand correctly. Thanks again!

I just did a nv4500 swap into my 77, replacing the 465. You need a nv4500 bell housing, a dodge 4500 will have different input and out shafts compared to the GM. If you have not already, check Advance Adapters and high impact. Oh, I am running a 2003 5.3, NV4500 and the NP205 from my 77.

You would have to get an nv4500 out of a chevy. My trans came out of a 1994 chevy pickup. It had a 241c transfer case bolted on to it. The whole thing will be a little longer too. Good luck!!! Let us know if you need help

I’ve read that the front drive shaft can have some clearance issues on factory height trucks. I have no personal experience with this though.

I’m anxious to see how this works out. I’m also interested in that extra gear.

I have an 1980 454 and I'm bolting am nv4500 up to it out of a 93 chevy. Do I need a different clutch or flywheel. My clutch is really hard.
