No Crank after rain

Battery good. Lights good etc. It WILL start after everything dries up.
Just the standard 70's-80's set up with HEI.

Any ideas?

You mite look at the distributor cap and rotor . Some of the after market caps collect moisture and HEI rotors can trace through and ground with condensation .

Is it a no crank condition? Or a no start condition?

No CRANK. It will start after everything dries up. So, i don't think it's the distributor.

Now is not the time to be vague.
No crank after it rains..so, if you wash your truck it won't start either?
"will start after everything dries up"..how do you dry everything, and what exactly are you drying?
Does it happen at operating temperature?
Does the truck have to be cold to start again?

I'm not trying to be a smart ass and not accusing you of being a dumb ass. But this has me confused? I'm not sure you know the difference between no crank and no start. No crank the engine doesn't turn over you might get a click when you turn the key, that's all. No start the starter turns, the engine turns, it just doesn't start. One of the big reasons I'm confused is your distributor comment. The distributor has nothing to do with a no crank condition, but could cause a no start. Post back so we can give you better guidance.

No it's ok----i AM a dumb ass as you'll see in a minute:

HOLIDAY UPDATE:

Since i'm on long holiday weekend, i can get whole-hog into it.

1) First i want to clarify about the distributor. Donald suggested something about the distributor. But since this is a crank problem, not a start or run problem, i said since it's a no-crank problem i don't think it's the distributor. i should have been more clear.

2) What happened was i apparently don't know how to use (or read) a battery tester. So, i assumed the battery was bad and got a new one. The truck cranked and started no problem after i put the new battery in. This lasted about a week.

But now we're back to INTERMITTENT NO CRANK CONDITION.

Since it will occasionally start i don't think it's:

the battery(since it's new)
the starter (also new, only a year and 1/2 old)
distributor---since the engine will run if we can crank it.

In fact, the engine will start very easily within one or two revolutions.

Also, i don't think the rain has anything to do with it, since last week it rained like hell and it cranked no problem. And then yesterday in rained like hell all the way up to this morning and i was able to crank it and start it.
