Hello! I’ve got an 85 c10, I’ve had it for roughly 6 years, unfortunately it wasn’t in the greatest shape when I got it, and it sat for 5 years while I was in the marine corps and getting on my feet after the fact, I’m pretty mechanically inclined, I grew up in my grandpas squares and I have a pretty deep attachment to mine, but I’m worried about starting any major projects, and honestly I’m afraid my truck isn’t worth putting the time or money into. The pictures make her look better than she is.

Welcome from DFW Texas….. what are some of the reasons you feel it’s “not” worth the attempt? Excessive rust? Money (always money) ROI?

Share more pictures… we are a father and son build and it took a few great people on here to convince us to keep going when we wanted to quit…

So glad they did! He turned 17 on Tuesday and he said “dad, I love my truck”

It’s got Michigan rust (rockers, cab corners, and a little more throughout) the guy who had it before me ripped the smog pump and etc. out and it’s pretty cobbled together under the hood, aside from that the body is straight, and it seems to run well, I will take more pictures tomorrow.

Doesn't seem to be in that bad of shape. Rockers, and cab corners are most people's problems. I wouldn't worry to much about smog unless it is required in your area. If it is you can probably find someone on here that has deleted theirs you can get cheap. These are older trucks they just need TLC, and time to get it back to its glory days.

I’m in Michigan, smog is definitely not required here, I personally don’t think it’s that bad, but my dad and some others seem to think I should scrap it, and I just can’t bring myself to do that lol

Welcome from Austria. Fix her up, yes it will cost some $ and elbow grease but she'll repay you with joy when cruising around and great memories.

@falserain328 , like @ali_c20 says in post 13, it’s SO worth it. My kid bought his at 14 with his money and wanted to do this, I did not want to. Fast forward 3 years later, a million arguments, a million problems (such as what you “see” under the hood, and wait till you get into the PO’s electrical mess!) a million “why do it that way?, a million I don’t know’s, a million things having to do things more than once… and finally… a million memories no one will ever steal from us especially those that said “junk it “ (my wife)…..

Now, everywhere he goes, and I mean everywhere.. everyone says the same thing … “don’t ever sell it”…. What an adventure and for him, it’s has taught so many life skills.

I have to say. Now that the big stuff is through, I find myself going out there and tinkering on the little things that he cares nothing about because it’s therapeutic…

This site and these folks have a piece of everything to do with that truck because without these folks… it would not have ended this way…

I’ll shut up… you’ve got this… do it!

I appreciate it greatly, I’ll take some more pics when I get home and I’m excited to start on it, luckily my wife is extremely supportive and loves the truck
