New to the Forum and GM

Hey there people,
I just acquired a 1974 GMC C1500 in need of some TLC. It needs some work and I look forward to having it up and running soon so I can use it as it was intended. I'm here in the Los Angeles area and I'm sure I'll be looking up alot of info and asking a few questions on the site. Thanks.

Welcome to GMSB. Plenty of help here. Is it not running for engine not starting, transmisison issues or other drivetrain? Post up a thread in the proper category in the Tech section and help will be there. But you'll have to turn your own wreches.

What part of LA? I was born and grew up in the Downey/Norwalk area. I hear pretty spooky in Norwalk these days.

Here are a few pictures of my new headache. As of now, I need to get rid of the camper, clean it up and replace/rebuild the carb. When it starts, it runs ok. I'll see what else it needs after that.

I made back $30 from all the recyclables in the back BTW.

I've been in the San Gabriel Valley all my life. I haven't traveled to Norwalk in years, just pass through it on my way to the OC. I have some family that works in Santa Fe Springs and they say that the entire area is getting worse by the year.

Good for you. So you're on the North side suburubs of LA, I was on the South side suburbs. Yea, that whole area, Downey, Whittier, Santa Fe Springs, Norwalk seems to be going down hill. Not quite as bad as South Gate, Lynwood, Parmount, or Compton yet I hope. When I lived there, I would avoid South Gate, Lynwood etc after dark, but I felt safe in Norwalk, SFS area after dark. Guess maybe not so much now though. I'm not homesick, but I'm ready for change. I've been in OKC for 22 years now after leaving Norwalk. I think I want to transplant to AZ.

I wouldn't know if those are the wheels that came stock on the truck. I don't know much about these just yet, I did purchase it from an elderly neighbor that has had it since new. So it is possible that they might be.
How would I be able to tell? I can take more detailed pics if anyone wants me to. The more info I have on this truck, the better prepared I'll be when I start cranking the wrench.

Some of Whittier is still nice, especially by the college. We frequent that area alot. We almost bought a house there about 4 years ago.

Arizona can be nice, just be prepared for the heat.
