Hello I'm looking for new speakers that sound good to put in the stock locations in my 86 K10 they would go in the corners under the dash, and possibly in the cab corners. presently i have kicker speaker boxes behind the seat but they tend to get muffled and 6x9's in the doors that were installed back in the 80's and the doors were cut. i was thinking of having the speaker holes sealed up while it was in the restoration shop. And the speakers relocated back to the stock locations. i figured with modern technology there should be something that sounds good if they will fit.

I've searched this forum and found an old post with speakers (ks35) that were purchased from Crutch field, and speaker enclosures (ks693) for 6x9's that go in the cab corners, but they are all discontinued.
Does anyone have a recent suggestion for speakers that fit in the stock locations without cutting anything?

Thank You

Here is a thread about 6x9's in the cab corners:

Not sure about the front speakers, mine are in the upper dash. Or do you mean the kick panel area?

I have these with some Pioneer 3-way 6x9s in them:

With these behind them to aid in bass/mid range response:

And these in the dash. The dashpad fit down fine on them, though it does bulge up just slightly. You do have to mount them on the bottom side of the bracket, putting them on top of the bracket makes it bulge too much

Now granted, this is a whole sound system with two more 6.5s in the console, an 8" sub in the console and everything is amped. But I ran for a long time with just the factory dash speakers and these Pioneer 6x9s in the corners un-amped and it sounded good

In my 85 C15 I used $30 Kenwood KFC-835C 3.5-inch Round Car Speakers for dash replacements due to low height which didn't cause any dash pad bulging using the top mount stock brackets and they have nice quality sound. The stock lower cab corners use 4x10s and brackets are readily available thru a third party like LMC which I installed $45 Cerwin Vega HED Series 4"x10" 2-Way Coaxial Car Speakers. Mounting holes may already be pre-drilled for these brackets in your truck. I then used foam buckets on the 4x10s to lighten the bass and eliminate corner feedback since I am already employing a AIO sub setup behind seat. Absolutely no fit issues. $89 KENWOOD KDC-BT35 Radio and speakers RMS ratings are aligned. Nice budget system using all new items for under $175.
