Anyone know what the LMC Truck tanks are? Decent? Overseas knock-off junk?
But spectra off rockauto.com an google a 5% code if there isn't one floating around on the forum. Doubt you'll find a better deal.

LMC should be last resort for something only they carry. You can usually get anything they have cheaper somewhere else. Just my .02

Nice. Good info. Yeah, usually the route I go too - but I wasnt sure if maybe they sold higher quality tanks specifically or not. Their prices for the tanks suggest maybe not.
Seems like Spectra is the way to go.. I'll probably have OReilly get em for me so I dont have to pay shipping. ;)

Ha I actually was serious. Obviously unrestored but looks like great condition from the pics. If the tank bracket bolts came out without much fanfare then I’d call that clean.
Regarding replacing the rock guards or not, Trapping debris that falls between the bed and cab is the primary culprit.
Example I had 1 leaking tank on the 86. That side was packed full of vintage mud and debris where yours is rusted. The other side was clean and the tank looked like new.
In hindsight, I think it would be beneficial for anyone wanting long service life out of new or existing tanks to install a shield over the top of the tanks at the gap between bed and cab. This would prevent debris from getting in there.
And it happens quick and easy. Just one load of beauty bark where the loader op overfilled and it spilled over the front of the bed deposited a lot of mulch right back into the trouble area. (I put the tank guards back on.).
Well thanks, I am glad your serious about the condition of my truck, that's awesome. I saw a video of someone changing tanks on an OBS era truck and the guards under the tank had slots for drainage. I was thinking of maybe making some on mine for the reasons you mention, if I use them again. Yeah a cover over the tanks makes sense especially for where mine are located. I only assume many other trucks were outfitted from GM this way, the sending units and outlets are directly where the sun shines down between the cab and bed.

Once my temp was down to a measly 100.8, I stumbled out to the garage for some more carb tuning. Even after adding the .043 (largest) accelerator nozzle, and the most aggressive accelerator pump 1468#, still has the same flat spot off idle. I can see how Edelbrock carbs have left a bad taste in people’s mouths.

Doing some reading while down with Influenza, sounds like Edelbrock carbs often don’t play well with big cams because the low vacuum hinders pulling from the transition circuit. This is an interesting article.

That's what I'm doing.
FYI, just checked OReilly online and my store doesnt show as having Spectra tanks.. only "Precision" brand.
That said, I did come across that Spectra has an Amazon store where you can order them direct there. :) So I'll likely do that and see if Amazon can deliver without breaking the tanks. hah

They’re all like that on all squarebodies.

Cleaned the bed out and Junior took his quad out to his girlfriends house to ride.
Now the transmission pops out of 3rd gear.

Choices have to be made soon.
Fix the trans I don't like with snap rings and shift forks.
Or start the conversion to 4L80 I have.

Hmmmm....

Try changing the power valve. Numerically higher I believe, that might just be on a Holley though. The edelbrocks seem to be love or hate. I'm not too fond of em lol
