Hey guys and girls new square body owner as of last Friday.Last week I picked up a 1979 gmc short bed step side l.Im not sure if I just call it a C10 or if that just pertains to Chevy I’ll just call it my square body.I bought the truck as a roller from my state inspection guy,I’ve seen this truck over the past 3 years just sitting there never even thought about buying it.Ive always been into the NBS crowd(99 to 06) but that scene is pretty crowded and was tired of just seeing this truck Rotting away so I picked it up for a 1000 and brung it home.I already dropped in a 5.3 4L60e motor trans out of a donor truck I had.The donor truck was pretty rusted on the bottom of the cab corners and underneath the cab and frame so it was the perfect donor truck for this square body so,the day after bringing it home I went to work and dropped it in.I bought the adapter plates for the clam shells for only 26 dollars on eBay they worked out pretty good went ahead and used LT1swap.com for wiring info and so far I just got it to crank over I still need to pick up some 4th gen camaro headers to use for this project.I bought a driveshaft out of s 2004 short bed Silverado but it was about 1 inch too long so I’ll have to take that down to the driveshaft shop and have them shorten it.I removed the dual tank set up and for now I just set my gas tank from my donor truck in back of the bed it fits real snug between the step side bed also the fuel lines off the extended cab donor truck will work out great for me because the end about a foot pass the beginning of the bed so I’m just gonna run them up to my fuel pump strap down that tank and build a custom box make it look nice to cover up that ugly plastic tank.well guys I hope to gain s lot of infor from this forum I’ll post pics and hopefully get some feedback good and bad.
