I like the eddie sports one but not at $750!
I Dunno man. I HATE spending that kinda money too, but I might hate these hoods when they malfunction even more. There was a guy selling a set of these for 400 on Craig’s a while back. He sold them before I got the chance to make it down to him. I’d easily spend 400 on them.

Spray all the hinge points down with Silikroil. Next time you go to open the hood, be careful you don't throw it through the ceiling of the garage.

Also works wonders on door pins, the door torsion springs, and the door cam and roller. And tailgate hinges, and hood latch, and 4WD shifter box, and, and, and.

At 750 a pair, I will keep oiling my hinges and closing my hood the right way. Plus, I have had to change the hood struts twice on my Acura. I can't imagine finding replacement struts for this that are that small.
Different strokes for different folks. Id never spend money on someone else working on my truck. With what I have saved on car repairs I feel I can splurge on whatever I want on my truck. But it’s still a hard pill to swallow.

A solution to not bending a 73-80 hood also lies in how you close it. Don't grab it an pull straight down. You have to push towards the windshield as you pull down. That gets the hinges moving in the right direction with less stress on the hood.

The other is to oil the hinge pivots anytime you open the hood for maintenance or upgrades.
Yep I oil mine but not often enough.

Wonder if these would prevent the buckling these hoods are known for?
They make a brace that bolts to the underside of the hood and the hinge to help reinforce it from doing that.

I've found, over the decades that if you keep everything on the truck lubed such as hinges, pivot points, locks, frontend parts wherever there's a fitting and U joints, they all work reliably for many years. The key is doing it regularly.
The owners manual has a lot of good info in it on maintenance, it's your trucks bible.

Do you think you could re rivet hinges? My Dad has a 75 and he wants my OLD hinges that had one flat worse out and had play, the other one on the way. He don't want to spend money either. Could you drill out and peen new rivets?
