I've been bouncing this idea around for a year or so and finally did it. I always liked the look of the Z71 4X4 decal on the later trucks and kinda wished my '77 had something similar. So I bought a Z71 decal off eBay, took it to my print shop guy and asked him to duplicate it but change it to Z84 (the 1977 Cheyenne package) and change the color to match my truck colors. He called today, they were ready. I just installed them and I think I'm pretty happy with the results. Now they match my license plate too (lol).
Whaddya think?

Very nice Chevrolet. IMO, I don't care for the 4X4 decal on the old trucks. But it only matters what you think. Nice truck !!

Same here. I honestly don't care for the decals but they are just that- harmless decals. And it's your truck anyways. But even with them, I don't like the truck any less :) It's an awesome truck.

I like things that are subtle....looks like they might have come that way. This is close enough in style and color to be a "did they make those" reaction from someone who doesn't know.

I've got 4x4 center caps I'm making like that.

Sharp truck though!

Looks good on that truck, maybe even better if the lettering had a little yellow pinstripe to match the trim.

Nice touch. It fits with all the 70's special editions GM gave us. If you want to make your truck just a little more period correct, have your plates painted blue with the yellow letters. I was lucky enough to have blue plates on my '79 and '85 trucks and had them reconditioned.

Craig,
You're right. When I bought the truck from the original owner he had Korean War Vet plates on it, which he kept.
I didn't really think about it too much when I ordered the black plates but if I had it to do over again, I would have found a nice set of blue plates and registered those instead.
