Thank you, This thing is a time capsule, original paint, untouched tailgate, scratchless box. I may have to alter my original plan of shortening the box. On one hand you have a decent truck to start a project, on the other, its only original once.

Yeah there’s literally 1000s of “nice” longbeds and no shortage of short beds to build since you’re gonna build a truck anyways.
And you’d end up repainting the whole truck anyways after the chop job so not saving anything there.
These trucks aren’t rare but all original great condition 74s are not so numerous anymore.

Interesting on the options sheet. I thought after 73 drip moldings were standard but they appear to be an option added to this truck?

The stainless drip moldings and wheel caps are the only polished items on the truck. The items i question are 1B2J DELETE HIGH ENERGY, 1B2H INTERIM EQUIPMENT C, 1D29 BELOW EYELINE TYPE, 1YG1 UPPER AND LOWER CUS. I have some guesses on those items but not sure.

The DELETE HIGH ENERGY means instead of receiving an HEI distributor, it received a point distributor from the factory.

I custom ordered my '74 Jimmy and I know I did not add that line. I've always wondered if in the sales brochure, the HEI was called out as standard equipment, then for some reason they built trucks without it.

Interesting! i know 74 was the launch for GM's HEI. This truck still has the points distributor, numbers 350 CID small block and turbo 350 transmission.

That's a beauty. That looks like a candidate to stay original. And I'm a guy who likes to mod everything! Lol. Real nice truck!

Not new to projects, but new to your site. Just picked up a survivor 74 C10 Custom Deluxe with some mods in mind, Need opinions on parts suppliers, recommended / not recommended mods. etc. This 74 is clean as a whistle X camper truck. My original plan was a tribute to a 74 shortbox 454 Cheyenne my mother drove as a child.

Wow that’s beautiful! Welcome from a fellow Michigander (transplanted to Washington State). My dad had a ‘74 GMC when I was a kid, and being from Michigan, I know how rare of a truck that is in that condition.
