Yeah yeah, so I have 3 projects going. You sound like my wife! lol I'm a truck guy. I even like cars that look like trucks, even though it's not really a "car". She's just a body and frame now. Need to do a lot of bodywork to it and going to put a full cage in it. I'm thinking pro touring/autocross/road race style setup. The black car is something similar to what I want my goal to be. I live in a condo and we're not allowed to work on vehicles so it just sits in the garage till we can get a house.

In the early 90's I built up a '68 EC, but got rid of it when we started having kids as it wasn't being driven. If I had it to do again, I would build it very similar to Keith Anderson's '70 SS (bottom pic).

I wonder why they didn't use the Chevelle rear bumper with
the tail lights rather than the body mounted lights.

That black one just looks way too gaudy to me. Plus, I can't stand it when people paint chrome bumpers.

Keith and his El Camino were the inspiration, for me to change my 71SS 454 Chevelle from street/strip to PT, G machine, modified muscle car what ever you want to label it. Very impressive ride!

You gotta get outta that condo. I dealt with that **** for years. Just make sure you dont move into a house in a HOA neighborhood. Long story short, I was kicked out of my apartment for working on **** in the parking lot and when I finally got a house, the damn HOA had a problem with me working on stuff in my driveway or even my GARAGE! Apparently the garage is meant for parking cars only and any other use of it will get you a fine. Nevermind the fact that its my property. I paid over $1000 in HOA fines for working on cars in my driveway and garage! BTW, if you don't pay those HOA fines they can legally take your house! Never again... Got out of there and just bought an acre outside the city. I have never been happier :)

Now I just need to build a shop so I can stop working in the dirt. The ants are pretty aggressive here lol.

Heres what I did on my other project this weekend. And I did it right in my front yard! It felt pretty good to finally be able to work without harassment or fines being thrown at me.

We plan on it. Gotta find a place to move first. We don't want to stay in IL but our son is in his last year of college. Then he is on his own and we out! lol We're thinking maybe Vermont since I have lots of friends and family still in MA, but my parents live in TN so maybe there. Who knows. We'll see what happens, and yeah, no more HOA's, forget them people.

HOA can **** off! That was my number one thing to make sure of when I bought my house. My garage is small so my 3 vehicles sit in the driveway 24/7 and that's where I work on them. So yeah no HOA for me.

I’d be working in that in the garage with the doors closed if I had to. Lol

I do from time to time, lol, but the Camino needs a ton of welding and hammering. Unfortunately the garage doesn't have enough power to run even a 110 mig. I've thought about tapping into the breaker box behind the garage and running a new line through the back wall but if they find out I'm screwed lol

Well, and hammering can be loud s you’d be found out pretty quick if the rule makers are huge sticklers for it :) I do love the 70 El Caminos probably because the 70 chevelles are my favorite cars :)

HOA would have flipped seeing you repaint/primer a vehicle. LOL On a side note, build a 20x20 pad that would fit in your future shop, that way your out of the dirt and if needed a little moat around the pad to keep the ants at bay.
