likely custom I am putting up new insulation on top, haven't figured out if I want it stuck to the roof like the floor due to heat and gravity over time or just lay something on the back of the headliners as insulation like carpeting insulation or something. as for cover material I have actually had good results with jersey fabric a few times but im not sure what I want yet. Honestly if it didn't turn into a microwave in the summer id leave it down, but without it the temp sky rockets. I may throw on some of that specialized reflective or sun paint on the roof, my brother manages a paint store and has something interesting I may go look at and since I can get a deal I figure why not and its supposed to help lower ambient temps by like 7 degrees I think

I swear I cant figure out the death wobble, stock ride height stock tire size, new tie rods and bushings underneath ball joints look fine shocks are fine leaf springs are tight......at about 45MPH and higher it will start to shake violently in what feels like the front right, I can accelerate out of it and it will smooth out or slow down and it will smooth out it is also more susceptible to do this coming out of a turn at high speed....steering box maybe? I don't know how that would cause such a annoying shake to the ride though. Any ideas

I have a factory chrome rack and rear spoiler thing I bought for my 1991 suburban. Does anyone know the dimensions for placement? or a round about or have a possible picture with details on mounting locations

HotrodPC and I have spoiler pics posted in here somewhere. I'll have to try and find them for you. As far as the death wobble you sure you don't have a out of round or out if balance tire?

still cant figure out that damn vibration, anyways have I some pics of the roof rack attached. cant get the file attachment to work though. try again later at the house. anyone know about these original racks....look super similar to wagoner racks from the same period...thought it was interesting

Regarding the wobble, Is it possible that axle U-joint is the cause? Sorry if you covered that and I missed it in your thread.

I wouldn't know how to check that, so I guess it could be, would I have to pull the hub and everything? or is there a visual inspection process.

edit: I watched some videos on this. Anyways can I check this without removing the shaft?

will the axles from an 87 c20 swap under this? I have a line on them in 3.73 ratio. I assume its a semifloat 14 bolt. all the guy says is 14 bolt. I would need both front and rear as mine are 3.43 from what I remember.

edit: I assume ill need the leaf pack off this too?

Man I still cannot figure out this vibration I have been getting for months now, driving me nuts, I guess next is to check the drive shaft

Have you taken the wheels off and had them spun on a spin balancer at a tire shop? If not, you'll want to stand there next to the balancer and look for:

-Tires that are out of round, and hop up and down, or move side-to-side. If you see this, look closely at the rim in order to see if the rim is the problem, or if it's solely the tire.

-As stated above, check the trim the same way.

-Let the machine cycle through it's spin balance sequence and see how far off in weight each wheel is. Then have the tire store remove all the existing weights, and re-spin each wheel. Any wheel that takes a lot of weight to balance has a bad tire. You'll never get that wheel to stop hopping, no matter how much weight you add, or how it actually balances out on the machine.

-Look at the date code on the tires. If older than about 5yrs, I'd suggest throwing them away and buying a new set of brand name tires......nothing's worse that a cheap set of tires.

thanks bud, I have not taken them to an actual balance machine so I will do so, I was planning on new ones soon anyways so I may as well just get new ones on once I know if the wheels are good. I have done everything else like checking the pumpkin, ujoints, suspension components so this probably would have been the first logical step...too bad I didn't think clearly sooner. thanks man Ill let ya know if I find anything out
