For 5 lug applications, gmt400 wheels should be a direct bolt in. 6 lug wheels needed center opened up.

Another set of gmt400 wheels i had on my 85 gmc with conversion lugnuts to use metric nuts for the caps.

The wheels on red I know came stock on a 1990s silverado, my dads 96 did.

every application Ive personally seen is a 1/2 ton 15 inch wheel 5 lug.. or was it 6... i think 5. crap.

I'm looking into this also for my 91 Suburban V1500. In addition to the axle hole size be aware of the Toyota wheels....they are the same lug pattern as the Chevy but I think they are only 12mm studs vs the 14mm on the Chevy Suburban and I think 7/16" on the GMC Suburban. Seems weird that Chevy and GMC would have different size lug nuts...???

These are the wheels I am running on my 84. They are from the older jeeps that are 5 x 5 and they are 16" x 8". They fit well, but need the lower control arms trimmed slightly so the a arm and wheel don't touch during a hard turn.

This is My 1989 Jimmy 4x4 with 15"x8" wheels they have 3.75" backspacing with 1/4 of space between rim and tie rod ends.
I believe you can have more backspacing with larger diameter rim? I have also seen and read about some K5's with more backspacing.
It may depend on witch tie rods you use. HD Moog vs some smaller aftermarket tie rods.

thanks scoots. i have 15x8 oem now, im wanting larger diameter wheels so i can source 10 ply tires, and a greater choice of tires. it also makes it easier to find larger (as in 17") wheel tire sets from the junk yard.

seems that the toyota wheels will work, but the lug holes must be bored? the I.D. of the toyota wheels are huge enough and backspacing is supposed to be ok?? i cant confirm. if it s only the lug size, thats an easy fix. but i need to confirm info about the toyota wheels as far as size diameter, lug size, center hole diameter, which years and models came with which size wheels , etc:
