What modern GM mirrors are being used to upgrade a square?
No need for Onstar or backup camera.
Would like compass, temp and autodim. I would go to a salvage yard and take the harness with the mirror.

Thanks.

It’s the ones from the 96+ trucks, burbs, hoes. look for the one in the 2000s. They have the compass and temp at the same time.
also need the little sensor behind the grille to get a temp read.

THIS is an old pic of mine. But it’s what I have in my phone.

Thanks. That what I'm looking for. I can find 2000s all day long.
Is the sensor easy to find or will I have to hunt?

HUnt, but any upscale gm car would have the option or base model. BUT a car, sedan will most likely only have compass and auto-dim at most. The cars typically read temp on HVAC controls.

My 98 park avenue mirror i have right now(didnt pull the sensor, damn) will show compass but not the temp, despite the sensor being there. the mirrors are the same external appearance except names on buttons and how many buttons. like LCD will show a temp display, but it may only do compass

I always found them simple to find. if the mirror has the comp temp. The sensor was always easy to find behind the grille.

Picked up a mirror, most of the harness and the sensor from a 2000 burb.
Had to cut a bit to remove.
Do you have the wiring info?
I found this.

I got one from a 2003 I think, a truck with auto dim, compass, and temp. I got the same sensor from the core support as well, got the connectors and a small bit of wire left too. Had the same diagram above, never did figure out the exact wires you need and where to run them to for everything to function correctly

If you went route of car mirror with onlyl compass and autodim the only wires needed are power, ground, and reverse switch

But looking up more, if you want map lights(I would love that in my f150 and square) or you want homelink (Or both), then you can get a mirror with said options. my car already has homelink but nothing else except my aurora does. If you have a driver side or passenger or both chromatic mirror, you could control them with the sensor on the rearview, too. I never have troubles on my passenger side with glare because any car in that mirror is at a very very steep angle (blindspot) so i notice them anyway because of lighting, and anything else would be too far off to even have the angle on my lens to shine in my eyes.
One perk of having a mirror pointed at your blindspot unlike most drivers. Sucks on driver side at night because freeways typically hit ya more in the eye but you can just adjust it then
