Metal Rescue Gel Rust Review

Had found some pretty significant rust on the roof and started looking into rust removal.
I tried Water/vinegar 4:1 but the rust was too heavy for it so I went searching some more.

Came across metal rescue gel. Not the liquid. It goes on really thick and stays in place once you lay plastic over it so it won’t dry out. These are my results after 3 coats. Each coats was covered with plastic for 24 hours and red scotch brite in between. It’s messy but won’t hurt other paint and wipes right off once you put the water hose to it.

never thought about it, but what about a rust converter? Like Ospho or 1 step?

I actually have ospho and have used it on my frame and other uncommonly seen areas. I felt because it’s an acid that it was best to go with the gel as it’s not acidic. And also ospho doesn’t get as deep into the rust as I had hoped.

I use ospho or similar stuff only on light surface rust in areas where it's really hard to remove it. For that occasions it works well.
I prefer complete rust removal and high quality primer and good paint.

Does it work like Naval Jelly? I've had good success with that but I only used it for small areas.

yes, but I believe naval jelly can potentially harm paint and chrome. Metal rescue is safe
