This will sound slightly idiotic, but I need some advice. I want to lower my truck, I was thinking about 4-5ish.... But my concern is how low can I go (on a budget so bags are out of the question) before I cant haul my motorcycle to the track? What I mean by that is; hitting the bump stops or bottoming out on the smallest of bumps.

If you do 4" rear with shackles an hangers you'll be fine. If you do a flip kit you'd need a notch depending on the weight of the bike.

3 inch front 5 inch back. Spindles (2inch) or a drop coil, or cut a coil off factory if on a tight budget. In the back, new hangers, drop shackle combo. If you go with a flip kit ...its closer to 6 inches if memory serves me correctly.

i plan to drop mine 5 inches in the back.

i got this rear flip kit because it comes with shock extentions and i plan to use my stock ones atleast for a while.

then ill be getting this notch kit. for your situation id say a notch is a must.
https://www.suspensionshop.com/chevrolet-c-10-1973-1987-rear-frame-c-notch-part-33152/

then ill be doing 2.5 drop spindels
https://www.suspensionshop.com/chev...2-5-drop-spindles-mcgaughys-part-33153-33154/

and also shock re locators for the front again plan to reuse stock ones for a while.
https://westernchassisinc.com/1973-...ount-Relocation-Kit-for-Lowered-Trucks-Front/

(you can get these a tad cheaper on ebay.)

i suggest the shock re locators if using stock shocks just will give them a bit more travel to keep from bottoming out.

then gonna cut front spring to drop it about another inch to inch and a half.

about the cheapest set up i could find. some things may need replaced later like the shocks and possibly front springs but to get started with the look on a budget should work out well enough.

Always a good idea to replace the ball joints and tierods since your gonna be tearing apart the front end anyways.......

And of course a front end alignment.
