Easy question I feel like I should be able to figure out and I've got some ideas but thought I'd see if there is a better way. My truck 84' C20 factory 16" wheels with factory caps. One cap has never fit the tightest, and Friday it came off on the road. Lucky for me it went into the ditch and I was able to retrieve it. The cap collected two new minor dents that I should be able knock out, but I'd like to prevent it from coming off in the future.

Here is the cap in question:

If your familiar with these caps you know that the metal lips over and in on the edges so it's not as simple as knocking the edge in a little.

Open to ideas, thanks!

What about a blob of weld on one of the wheel's cap-holding-nibs?

You have to roll the bottom edge towards the center of the cap, whether you roll it around while putting weight on it or some hammer work.

Thanks guys, @Rickf that thought briefly entered my head, but don't want to modify a wheel for a hub cap. If it came to that I'd replace the cap.
@PrairieDrifter That was the idea in my head. I got these caps used as all but one was missing when I got my truck 5 or 6 years ago. This particular cap has always fit a little loose regardless of the wheel and I figure from being removed many times over the years so of that roll around the lip has either unrolled or more likely simply flattened out.

Ok I'll go at her with a hammer in the morning and we'll see if she fits a little tighter after that....

It's 40 some years old. We all get a little loose around the edges at that age lolol

@PrairieDrifter A little hammer work to the edge this morning and she fits great again! Got most of the dent out from when it flew off so that'll have to work. Thanks!
