Found these about 3 miles away at the local county maintenance shop. All not running, newest registration was 2008, 2 M1008's, 1 M1028, all under 30k but undercarriages are rusted to hell and back. Talked to a guy (the boss) that said he might be interested in selling them but didn't throw out a number. He was more interested in hiring me for a 20% pay cut vs my current job :anitoof: than getting those things out of the way. Real question is, how much should I offer? I'm not sure he knows what he has and seeing as they're all not running I'm not sure what I would be getting into.

1500 for the three, body parts`d be worth that much. To get them fired up and running`d be a bonus.
usually, for a lower govt. entity to sell something, has to go to auction. You might get lucky though.

That's what I was thinking as a starting point. I'd also have to pay for a rollback to get them here.

I would start at 6 cents a pound, that way if its all junk (unlikely but possible) you won't be out anything. If you could get all three cheap enough you can put together one nice truck and have lots of good parts to sell to cover the stuff like rust repair.

That's kind of wahat I was thinking. I could part out the other two if need be to get one going. If all else fails, I could acquire some nice parts for the k10.

Yeah 24-12v resistors and glow plug controllers are across the firewall. I had limited, but some
dealings with them while deployed.

$1800 at least in axles...

Ehhh, Prolly more like $1500. You might get $1800. But, that's where the money is at for sure. I wouldn't piss the guy off with a low ball offer. But I'd sure go for $1000 each, if i had it, and if he comes back with $1500 each, I'd be on it. Thre is still many other good parts that CUCV owners will buy. I for one would love a set of bumpers off of one along with the axles. If they're under 30K miles, chances are it's minor **** why they don't run. Injector pumps, glow plug boards etc. They go $4000-$6000 running in about the 50K mile range.

I just sold a pair of 1 tons. 60 front, 70 rear, 4.56 gears. Sold them to the first guy I told about them for $600. I know I could have got way more, but I needed cash fast. Lowest I've ever sold a 60 by itself was $600. ..$1800 would be a very low estimate considering they're all 4.56 geared srw axles.

Turns out after some checking, they're owned by the local sheriff's office. They don't have titles and the only way to get the titles is to be turned back in to the state. Boss-man said he's more than willing to get them gone as they're just obstructions to mow around. They've tried to auction them before but ended up giving refunds because titles weren't available. Thought about contacting the sheriff but he has more important things to do than worry about getting rid of 3 POS trucks. Oh well.:shitsweak:

Buy them cheap and part them out. As said, there is plenty of value in the axles alone. Some say $1800, I say more like $1400-$1500, but nonetheless, if you can get them for $1000 each, that's a steal. Even at $1500 ea, still a good workable deal. But, you'd need to have the space to work those deal and could make a nice chunk of change.
