Same issues with mine, had the frame welded and replaced the steering box. The first box was almost like no power steering at all, advertised as improved. Replaced with a box more like the original, two fingers. Second box was more expensive, both new, not rebuilt.

I was gonna say PSC but I looked and they only offer 4wd and “F” body steering gear boxes.

A friend did a Borgerson conversion, liked it. Prefer Red Head boxes for OEM style.

I want a performance feel. I guessing the lower number is better 12:7:1 compared to the CPP 14:1 ratio?
I thought the 14:1 was like a stock ratio?

Thanks everyone, and just a side note. Im not looking for a stock replacement. Looking for a performance
gear box.

Wow, for those prices I'm glad I just rebuild them myself. Rebuild kit is about $30
Thats what I would do If I needed a rebuild. Original works perfect no slop. Just want a quick ratio.

Whatever box you go with, I hope you report back on how it feels. I would love to know if it actually gets rid of the inch or so play all Saginaw boxes seem to have. Tell us if it's worth the money

Both are great. If they were the same price, buy the Borgeson. But the Borgeson is $150 more. I bought the CPP for less than $300 buying direct from CPP.

I'd also suggest upgrading to the Borgeson shaft. I prefer the double CV version.

Thanks Ben. Do you have the part # for that shaft?

I do not know about these boxes. What I see the, Borgeson has a cast iron bearing retainer. The PCC has that machined aluminium retainer. Very pretty, but here in the salt belt that will melt away. I guess if you kept it painted it would survive.

If I recall, the aluminum piece is a decorative cover.
