Lift and tire size on a daily driver...

How much lift and what tire size do you guys run on your daily drivers?

I was thinking 6" lift plus 37" tires but in not a tall guy and my chick is short too... I think it might end up being a pain on a daily basis unless i get those steps that drop down when you open the door.

Then i was thinkin 4" and 35" but lil jeeps run 35s and my k5 being a full size truck should run big boy tire sizes.

What do you guys think?

A 4 inch lift and 35s are a great way to go on a daily driver. Although 37 inch tires are a good size. But for a daily driver a 4 inch lift and 35s will do fine you might need a 1 inch body lift though.

Also have to make sure it still fits in the garage for repairs in the winter... I was thinking if i had beadlocks i could air down to fit it in but dunno the exact height the truck would be...

I had an 8"lift w/35s, it was cool as f*%k, but not as a daily driver. And I do drive it everyday. I dropped it down to a 6" with 33s. Actually the truck doesn't look much different, but the ride quality and handling on the freeway is night & day difference. Here's some pics of before and after.

Yeah.. I agree with the 4 - 35 combo. I think thats decent enough to look good, but not be a pain for daily use..

I want to make sure its not useless offroad aswell, so that's why originally i wanted 6" with 37s....

You will have to take into consideration how extreme with the offroading your gonna get with it.

I myself dont beleive in cutting up a body to clear tires.
I would go 4" on 35"s.

Believe it or not that extra two inches on the tire makes a huge difference on the way it rides. Have you considered a 6" with 35s?

Depending on the wheel used, that may require a little trimming. If I try, I can get my 33's to lightly rub the fenders with a 4 inch lift. Speaking of which, my wife drives it everyday and she's only 5'3". She says she could get in it just as easy if it were a couple inches taller.

6" with 35s makes it look like the wheels are too small.

I plan on trimming what i have to, my girls a lil rusty anyway...

I've got 33s on it with no.lift and it drives fine... But they do measure out as 31s.

Isn't a 6/37 going to lift it 9"?

really? i barely rub if at all with 33's and a 2 inch lift. has more to do with my bumpstops tho cuz i DEFINITELY have bottomed out many times. I may be alone on this but 33's and a 2 inch lift are my vote. I think it looks the most proportional. Even more so than stock.

It just depends on how rough I'm being with the truck. Honestly, I don't know how I haven't broke anything in the front axle... then again, it's probably the open diff. I'm sure I'll kill that axle with bigger tires and a locker.

86' K5 in my sig:

4" Ranch springs and ORD 1" zero-rate up front, 4" ORD shackle flip and 1" zero rate w/56" springs in rear (5" lift) on 35X15.

I have another vehicle as my DD, but would not hesitate to use this if needed. 6/37 is too much...too much stress on your steering, 10 bolts and stock gearring for DD. Factor in the cost to upgrade and you'll think twice.

Bigger is not always better "offroad"
