In the process of restoring my K-10 I have a goal to modernize certain aspects of the old truck with late technology like EFI, touch screen, back up cam Etc. I cant for the life of me think of a good way to make a semi-permanent cell phone mount that would be reachable and functional from the drivers seat. I'd like to get it done without gluing or screwing it to the dashpad, but also don't want to screw into the lower sheetmetal.

How did you do yours?

I don't have this in my current truck but in my last truck I bought a mount for like $30 that used a foam sticky pad to stick to the front of the dashboard. It was really helpful to use GPS when it was right there as well. There are a ton of mounts like this on Amazon.

This is mine with a bench seat. I got a otter box case and just took the clip off and attached it to a piece of metal and screwed it to the dash were there was a cb mount at one time. Sorry only picture I got and truck is in pieces right now.

That's some ingenuity there... It sounded ghetto the way you describe it, but it looks decent and is functional. I like it

That's about as functional as @wanderinthru 's pocket or my K-10's cup holder, AKA tucked in my crotch. It works but doesn't quite fit with the level of build I'm doing.

My s10 i use a suction cup mount on the windshield
Not a bad idea, I've been considering that. My issue would be the base of the windshield is out of reach and anywhere within reach the charger/stereo cable would be an eye sore.

On second glance it looks like that is your snuff pocket, I keep the snuff and phone in opposite pockets to balance things out a bit.

Yea caught me. Truth is I very seldom have the damn thing with me. When I'm home it's in the top of a tool box plugged in, playing Spotify, no such thing as a good radio station around here. If I take it with me It's in a console setting on a bench seat, depends on what truck I'm in. Was just being a smart ass, no intention of dismissing your question/thread.
And yes that is the snuff pocket, which is setting on a table, or the bed of the truck when I'm working.

Oh its totally ghetto but I tried the suction cup things and they are to far away and I don't like stuff on my dash or windshield. So this is my solution. The holes were there in the dash and the spot is pretty easy to reach and if you have ac it shouldn't block the vent and it also holds my pen screw driver and flashlight

Oh in my c10 with a bench seat..... it doesn't matter, once I whip it sideways everyone flies over to one side of the truck hahahahaha

But have you seen those cup holders that go in place of the ash tray? It's like 1 molded or 3D printed piece.

They might make something like that for a phone

That led me to a good search, I know a company called RAM mounts makes the cup holder mounts. They also make all types of tech mounts for police cars, boat fish finders, Etc.

While searching RAM Mounts I found this, it suposed to bolt to the floor using the seat rail bolts on a bucket seat. I might consider doing something like this bolted to the trans tunnel.
