This is actually my daily watch. It’s an Elgin, manufactured in Illinois during WWII and issued by the War Department, hence the Ordinance Dept stamping on the cover. The dial is painted with radium for night viewing and take it from a retired nuclear worker, it will send a frisker (aka Geiger Counter) into orbit.

It works great and about every 4-5 years I send it off to a watchmaker for cleaning and oiling.

This is my late father’s Hamilton Railroad watch, which he had when he worked for the railroad (where he met my mother). These were special watches issued by the railroad and routinely calibrated to keep all railroad employees synchronized to prevent accidents. It works perfectly and I occasionally wear it. It’s an amazing piece of machinery!

Picked this up over the weekend.

This is a replica of the '64 GTO used in the Car and Driver article that kicked off the muscle car era.

The real car still exists and is owned by a friend of mine in California. You couldn't ask for a better steward of this piece of history, as he has it shipped back east during the summer for various shows and for the Dream Cruise.

I'll see about getting his car and my car together for a photo shoot this year. This is the last time the two cars were together in the same place (the inaugural MCACN show in Chicago, November of 2009).

I took down my shelf that had most of my memorabilia at the shop when I built a shelf, I plan on building shelves in the studs to save space.

Anyways here is just a little bit of what I got:

Pigeon hole cubby was something my maternal grandfather had in his shop, I use it for my abrasives, the Sears/Allstate battery charger was my paternal grandfather's, the new Glarus came with my Miller 330.

I guess this counts? My art project of the 79's front end.

And the Pepsi machine. It does work and the r12 system is ice cold, will freeze beer. Need to stock it up again. This was given to my dad kind of as a housewarming gift, dad gave it to his friend and who is now my boss, who gave it back to me when I got the shop.

Funny story about that display:

That was my first indoor show ever, so I asked the other guys what they were bringing in terms of display boards and memorabilia.

"Aw, nuthin" Tenney said. "I'll probably just bring that sign that Scott has".

So I didn't really bring anything extra - just the car.

When I got there Tenney had this fancy hand painted display on plexiglass - very nice.

You can see Bill Shultz setting up his Ram Air V display in the background. He had an ENTIRE WALL of articles and clippings and photos.

I was so embarrassed. I went back to the hotel and wrote up a quick summary and asked them to print it on an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper. I had my big GTO book and laid that on the hood with the paper under the windshield wiper.

It was funny to see the reports on the internet. They were breathless: "they've got the Car and Driver car, and a Beswick car, and the Ram Air V car, and a Thom McCan giveaway car!!"

"oh - and a black '65".

So here's what it has escalated to now.

This was Tenny's display last November:

In the photo at the bottom here - you can just barely see it but there is a one in three chance that is our '63 Catalina in the background -

And with all this discussion about "Ram Air":

Here is what the original ram air pan for '65 looks like, as made in the Pontiac experimental metal shop -
