Legs TOO short. Need side steps

Dammit, why can everyone else find these manual transmission K20s???

I expect I'll be having a problem getting in mine due to back problems. My intent is build some type of rock sliders and have them double as a step.

Those single steps just scare me as something that will get snagged while out wheeling and get ripped out of the sheetmetal or damage the rocker.

If you just bolted them in with the sheet metal screws they come with I think they would rip the screws out of the sheetmetal before ripping big chunks out of the inner rockers. Now if you welded I’m not sure, the brackets could probably rip off before the rockers honestly

I had this step mounted on driver's side only. The gas tank on passenger side
didn't provide the clearance I wanted, plus let the passenger climb in. ;-)

I really didn't care for the step, so I removed it and cobbled together these side bars from stuff I
had saved over the years. They're bolted to the rocker and the frame.

Thanks for the compliment.
Mostly it was mounted too far forward and made using it awkward.
If you go that route, be sure it's where you want it before you start drilling holes in the rocker.
I felt about middle of the door would have been better.

Yeah for sure, those style hoop steps should be almost in the middle of the door. I like mine a lot personally. I think the directions said to mount them at the front edge of the seat

hello, my question is can my perfect rockers handle 300 pounds daily on those small ones also not wanting to drill holes can they be mounted differently do they even come out far enough for a big guy

I think there should be plenty of room to get anybody’s foot on there. I think welding the brackets on would be your best bet but that would mean you would have to take some paint off and throw some paint on after you’re done.

Personally I think the rockers and the steps would handle it. They do tuck up a little bit, these pictures are where the step is almost perfectly level, they have a slight inwards lean towards the center of the vehicle. But you could bring them down some, it just means you only have a few adjustment spots before the angle of the step gets way too far from level.

Inner rockers on these trucks are pretty thick. They will handle the weight.

I’d be worried about them holding my fat butt. I can’t see them being all that sturdy.

They work!! I put a set on a customer's 88 K1500, jumped on em hard. They stayed put . He was worried he goes 250 lbs . I am 215 and I didn't have to get up off the ground when I lit on them, so they are fine
