Well, first you need to decide if you want to keep the same style as original or if you want a different look. They sell projectors in a wide variety. some take LED headlights you plug in, some sealed LED, etc. You want to avoid using a halogen housing with LED bulb(like mine is) because it scatters light and can be dangerous. I did mine for off road, on property use only. If I go on roads, Ill be putting in H4 halogens.

I have an 85 Silverado and I'm wanting to do LED as well. I like the ones you see on ebay with amber rectangle running halos but I'm sure they're all made in China. I'm curious what you did.

I ended up installing Truck-Lite LED Headlights on my '85, and i have nothing but positive things to say about their products so far! I ordered Truck-Lite 27640C for my low beams off of amazon, and they are brighter then brand new vehicles, so my range of sight has increased significantly over the yellow-colored factory halogens. And the styling of the housings are way sweeter then other LEDs Ive seen online, as well as I believe they are made in the U.S.A.!

The made in USA ones arent cheap but works the best, Ive tried many different cheap imports and some pricier imported ones and they weren’t as bright and all failed quick. I got these at LMC and they are bright and a little blue like a newer truck/car but not annoying blue like the cheapies Im very happy with them after a year Of use!

Is that a housing you put a bulb in or is the entire housing a bulb?

It’s the entire housing, has a pigtail off the back that plugs into the stock harness and doesnt require anything else to make them work right.

These are what I got, I was hoping they would be glass for the cost but aren't. For $260 each I sure hope they are decent, the truck won't be finished for at least a few more months.
The lens is polycarbonate? That sucks.

Yeah, they are some type of plastic. I think I'll probably coat them in 3M paint protection film or something to keep them nice
