new to the site!! was looking through and noticed no one had a write up on led's. Has anyone done a full conversion to there truck? And if so what bulbs did you use? And did you have to use any other thing besides just plugging them in?

Just google search superbrightleds.com. led direct replacement bulbs can get crazy expensive. I replaced all of my interior bulbs with leds as well as my tail lights, side markers and parking lights up front. For the interior I added kick plate leds. For the kick plate (and glove box light) I purchased a 15 ft length of led strip lights that are adhesive backed. The led strip lights can be cut every few inches depending on the amount of light needed. All you have to do with the strip lights that can be cut to varying lengths is to solder a wire to both the positive and negative polaritys. They can be all wired together and added to one circuit (Mine are wired to the dome light switch). Now I have more than enough light in the cab.
For my parking lights, I found a pair of amber leds (4 leds per strip) and wired them into the parking light power supply. The parking light housing was opened up and the leds were glued into the back of the housing so that the leds face towards the lens. The three leds are about twice the brightness of the incandescents and they wont melt the housing or bulb socket like the bulbs do.

I just installed them today. I used truck lite 4550 for stop turn tail and Maxima M20332R for side marker light in each tail light housing. And for front side marker I used Maxxima M20332Y. Extensive mod to tail light housing and lense. Also switched to electronic flasher.

I've done a full led conversion, should be in my build thread. And I do mean a FULL conversion. The side markers require current to flow both ways. Leds only allow current to flow in one direction. it is not a plug and play procedure. you will have to wire up a relay (as I have) or make a full wave rectifier using 4 diodes.

start here. Theres a helpful diagram I made for those like you who want to convert.

I learned in hindsight that you shouldn't have to use load resistors like I did. I used an electro mechanical flasher unit (stock is mechanical). A fully electronic flasher unit should not be load dependent and therefore will not require load resistors. I've been meaning to update this for years, both on my truck and on the forum. but ya know... life

read up and you should be golden! its so worth it. lights are bright, crisp switching on and off, and will last forever! let me know if you have questions. I'd like to see someone else "convert" lol
