I found our Kubota TG1860 diesel mower at a John Deere dealership years ago, a lone orange tractor in a sea of green. Due to the Hydro-Gear transmission being shot I got it for a steal, rebuilt the hydro and mowed for 12 years. I also added a drain plug so I could drain and replace the oil. Kubota says the unit is filled for life and is not user serviceable. Yeah, right!
Recently the transmission started to lose power and even stop on inclines so pulled it to rebuild again. Like last time the directional and drive cylinders were worn (5 and 7 piston cylinders in foreground below), allowing oil to leak past the pistons. New cylinders should be here tomorrow and we’ll be back in business for another 12 years or so.

No cool mods to this unless you consider the rubber “plow” I made for the front of the deck to knock down mole mounds. Reduces rock consumption by the mower blades considerably….lol.
But fun fact, it’ll do a wheel stand pretty easily!

My trusty garden tractors. Well, I guess only one is trusty, lol. But I really like two of the others too... one will possibly used for some of the parts.
Bolens Husky 800- has a mower deck, tiller and a dump bed. I really like it, but the carb has been giving me fits for years.
John Deere 325- it takes every bit of abuse I throw at it and then asks for more. Like, serious abuse. Has a mower deck and a snow plow. Only "mod" is the fresh tape on the busted plastic hood.
Cub Cadet 147- it was a mowing machine with a very torquey, but worn out Kohler engine. It's waiting on me to put a new replacement engine back in it.
Cub Cadet 127- I never really got along with this one. It ran and mowed ok sometimes. I haven't tried starting it in years. Probably a parts rig.

Nah. The little white one I kept it somewhat original minus the go kart wheels. It cranks right up and mows like a champ.

Here is a lawn tractor that My dad built. What He could not find in the scrap heaps at the recyclers He fabricated and machined. The boiler was made from an oxygen bottle and the cylinder and piston He machined.
He sold this when I was in the army. I now am searching for it and have got several solid leads from a couple of fakebook groups thats interested in such as these.
That is Me standing on the platform and two eldest susters setting in the water tender tanker.
It appears that the neighbor kid must have got some pine board smoke in his eye.
Oh yes, He also built the threshing machine which is fully functional.
He claimed that it all was on about a 1/4 scale case, but, several replies state that it is a design all its own, with some Case resemblences.

You can get a new "top" for yoiur john deere hood pretty affordably, as long as your lower hood is ok. you have tape on it but if you can epoxy weld the crack and its not trying to fall apart on you, the top is still over 50$ but you can just screw it on and it will give it more structure and you can set soemthing on the top of it and not break it into pieces lol
And the kohler. is it by chance a 20hp 2 cylinder kohler on your scrub cadet?

My lower hood has a couple cracks, but the top hood is extremely brittle. Where can I get one?
No ma'am, the 147 Cub gets a 14 hp single cylinder (I've still got the original engine parts too) and the 127 Cub has a 12 hp single cylinder.

This brand, kumar brothers, is what i got for our gx335 https://www.walmart.com/ip/New-Kuma...07015?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=10125 I dont remember what ours is exactly but its in that same range of mower size. I got mine oiff amazon years ago but it was listed as not in stock when i researched it

Wife likes to use the 1968/69 Simplicity to pull her garden wagon around. Does a great job, plus looks extremely cute doing it!
Original 7hp Briggs engine with the starter-generator. I had to rebuild the starter-generator a few years back and so far it’s working great. It has a 32” mower deck that I removed since I don’t plan on mowing with this cute little bug-eyed machine.
This model has a neat feature in that it actually articulates just in front of the seat, so as you drive over uneven ground the front end may tilt one way and the rear the other way.
