K30 8 stud (lug) Wheel PCD & alternative wheels

Haven’t quite got her home yet, in the process of making the garage door a foot wider.

One thing i need to sort at some point is wheels and tyres.

I have 2 sets. What i believe to be original 8 lug 16.5” alloys with old 37” gumbo monster mudders and some banded steel 16.5” rims with 40” monster mudders.

Both sets of tyres are old and worn and apparently finding tyres for a 16.5” rim in the UK isn’t that easy.

Can someone please confirm what the PCD is for the wheels and does anyone know of any alternative wheels i may be able to source from another vehicle or suppliers that can ship to the UK.

16.5s aren't that easy to find in the States, unless you have a large fat wallet.....
That is the diameter rims that all 8 lug trucks used to come with though. Back then it was much more common. The generation of GM trucks after the square bodies, the OBS or GMT 400s, has 16" wheels from the factory, as does the generation after it(NBS/GMT 800, 1999-2006/7). Then the factory started offering larger wheels, 17", 18", 20" and so on. However the lug pattern used on the older trucks is 8x6.5" bolt circle, and GM used this up through the 2010 model year.
If you want to run a narrower tire, the steel wheels like my OBS crew cab has are 16"x6.5", and the factory alloy wheels that the NBS trucks used are that size too. I think the guys on the 400/OBS forum that run these wheels (GM option code PY0) run a 265/75-16 size tire on them; stock is a 245/75-16.
I know a member of the OBS/GMT 400 forum in northern Scotland, who has a 2500 Burb. His truck has aftermarket 17" mags on it that have wider tires, and I think he's replaced the tires in the 4 years he's had it. He bought it with those wheels on it.

I either need to find some 16.5” tyres to go on my existing wheels or some 16x8s or wider rims so i can run a 37/38” x 12.50 tyre. Anything smaller will look stupid on it.

Only tyres i’ve found so far are the interco or petlas. Neither of which are readily available in the UK.

But i can get some decent part worn tested michelin 325/85/16s (about a 38” diameter i think) for £500. If i can find some 16” rims.

Most imports that have been scrapped over here tend to be the lighter weight models on a 6 lug rim.

I may bite the bullet and import some 8 stud 16” wheels from America. In the long run it makes getting tyres 100% easier.

If buying new rims anyways, you may want to look at going larger than the 16". It will open up more options for tyres since you are looking at them down the road anyways.
