Disc brake conversions suck. Those caddy calipers are more trouble than they're worth. Parking brakes and emergency brakes are two different things.

My 86 came with a full floater. It's C6P optioned though.
yes, my 85 k20 super double xtra heavy duty is C6P as well

nice 13" drums but a semi-floater.

docs from the maker says 3/4 trucks got semi regardless of options and 1 tons got the sticky-outy full floater.
(in the year range we're talking about)

regardless of what i think, it has what it has and a full is nice to have compared to the semi.

sweet!

;)

my 2 cents on the discs in the back.
my 13" drums brake my truck really well.

There are two versions of the 13 inch drum as well. Worth knowing. I have the 13 "wide" brake shoes from my donor CUCV. And yes, they weigh #50 EACH!

Mine's a C6P as well. Ive wondered why it didnt have a FF since i figured out what C6P meant. Maybe because its a 4x4?
because c6p standard equipment most years was still a semi float axle. unless you got a 4.10 or a 4.56 I believe likely axle would be semi float

My mind is blown. My K30 has a 14 bolt FF, of course, but so does my '84 GMC K20. Are you all sure that no K20s came with the FF? The option number on the tag for the axle is GU6; REAR AXLE-3042 RAT.

driveline brake if someone had the space and could source one would be cool but not very ideal for most people.

I've seen several mid 80's burbs with FF rears. Why would they not be in some K20's as well?

I had an '85 C20 and an '88 C20 Suburban both had 454's and came with 14 bolt FF. The '87 K20 I had came with a SF 14 bolt. All were 4.10 trucks with 13" drums.

As far as '81+ rear axles go, C20 rules do not apply to K20. C20 trucks and Burbs always got the full float axle, if equipped with 454 and (iirc) the 6.2 diesel as well. And probably a small block with C6P too, but I'm unsure.

Considering total production, an '81+ K20 with a full float rear axle is very uncommon, regardless of the C6P option. I would even go so far as to say "extremely rare" but I do not know of actual production figures.
