I just bought this truck a go year from a good friend(it was his father's). It was the first vehicle I was ever taken on a "hell ride" way back in the early 90's. Long story short, always wanted it and now I have it. It has the first 383 stroker that was made in this area. I noticed something was wrong a week ago and figured it was the carb. While disassembling to make it easier to get to the far back of the motor decided to take the intake off and try a different one a friend had and get rid of most emissions nonsense at the same time. Intake completely clogged on the crossover port as well as the heads. Said screw it, popped the heads off and low and behold 7&8 are cracked. So now the plan is to also change the radiator, main wiring harness, delete the a/c box, do a 1/2 to 3/4 ton axle swap and put a lift on it. Any pointers or suggestions are more than welcome. I need to have it out of my garage by Friday which is gonna be nearly impossible working by myself. I feel better now that I've typed this out and I'm excited again. This thing is a blast to work on! And he's gonna be an absolute beast in a week.

Welcome from Colorado! BUT... Good luck getting that out of the garage in a week! I just hope nothing breaks and you don't have to wait on parts! Just as 78C10Big10 says, those are lofty goals. It's good to have goals[emoji6][emoji1787]

Well... I was a little too ambitious with my timeline but I'm not upset about it at all. Ol' Boy is just gonna have to get built a year ahead of schedule I'm pulling the motor this morning to check the crank and bearings. Hopefully they're fine and can just continue on. If they aren't ok I guess its turning into a total rebuild. Either way, this stroker is going to be an absolute beast when I'm done. I hate the pricetag but damn does it feel good. More pictures to come [emoji106]

Well I've almost got all the parts I ordered. This took way longer than expected but its been a blast. I figured I don't want to disassemble the front end ever again so I just decided to do everything now instead of next summer. Basically I'm doing a top end upgrade. New carb, intake, heads pretty much everything but a new cam(bought one but its a little aggressive and I have a stage 2 already). It snowed the last couple days so the axle swap was put off till it melts again. I should have the parts next Friday and I've already enlisted a few friends for the weekend. I'm hoping by the 10th of November I'll have ol boy put back together and can start troubleshooting any issues that are bound to happen. Wish me luck.

Ps. Anyone looking for some stock 400 heads from a late 60s early 70s Corvette?

1/2 ton front axle can be changed to 3/4 ton by swapping spindles , hubs, brake caliper plate, caliper, rotors and all. :)

I'm long overdue on an update I suppose. Ol' Boy is coming along nicely. You guys were right about my timetable, not even close to a week project. It pretty much turned into a complete build on me. I have some cleaning and reorganizing to do in my shop but I should start reassembling the motor on Monday. I decided to use the $ that I'd saved up for a cheap little car and spend it on performance parts for Brucie instead! I couldn't bring myself to buy a 99 Taurus. That would've been the smart thing to do. But when it comes to vehicles, I'm not a rocket doctor [emoji1787][emoji23](last vehicle I owned was an 09 CTS-V that I ditched doing 160. Whoopsi daisy [emoji2959][emoji2369]). My stroker is going to get some steroids instead. So here's what I've got going into Ol' Boy.
Holley 4160 street warrior carburetor
Weiand stealth intake
SWP 200cc/68cc aluminium heads
Comp cams high energy aluminum roller rockers w/ 7/16th arp studs
Brian Tooley racing chromoly push rods
Comp cams lifters
Comp cams Thumper cam
Arp head and intake bolts
Jegs headers going into true dual straight pipes.
The crankshaft and pistons are in immaculate condition. [emoji869] I'll be changing the rings and bearings and honing the cylinder walls as well.

It was soooooo much fun! The wagon is definitely the way I'd go if I ever have the chance to get another V. That's my girl Veda R.I.P

After I'm done with the motor I'm gonna take the hood off the parts truck and try to make a cowl that mimics the V's. I think it'd be different and look good. Idk I can come up with some hare brained schemes sometimes lol
