Interior redo 77 silverado DIY

A little history real quick. My dad bought this truck when I was 1 brand new. He planned on giving it to me when I turned 16 that never happened. Finally weaseled it out of him 4 yrs ago
It's been in my garage since. I have done some some stuff to fuel system and engine but this thread is about interior. I will cover that stuff soon in exterior thread.
Well my daughter turns 16 in October and can't drive a stick I am going to let use the 77 until college so we are fixing it up for her. And hopefully soon so she can practice the clutch out at our deer lease.

In the last 2 days I have gutted interior.
32 yrs if sitting in the desert killed it.

So far I have been pricing LMC for interior stuff, you guys have better options?

I like original GM stuff, so I spent time tracking down nice used parts. I found seats and interior panels in the correct red color, but the door panels and dash pad I got were light blue, but some SEM vinyl paint took care of that. It wasn't nearly as easy as just ordering everything out of a book, and it wasn't any cheaper once it was all said and done, but it was original parts.

Bucket, you have any advice on cleaning up the "fog" on instrument cluster lense?
Or is forking over $30 for a new one the best bet?
What about the glue they use for the laminate trim piece on the cluster bezel?

Depends on how bad the fog is. Try polishing the lense with mag wheel polish on a terry towel, followed up with Mother's caranuba (sp?) wax on a polishing rag. I've had very good luck with that method, but if the lense is too yellow it still won't turn out that great.

The bezel trim is an area that I'm still figuring out. Mine was broken and the trim (fake walnut) was faded. I managed to pull the trim off in one piece, I've been thinking that staining it might make it look good again. Hadn't thought much about glueing it back on, perhaps super glue or rubber cement. Right now I have a '75 or '76 bezel in the truck, I picked it up at a swap meet. The fake wood isn't correct for a '77, but nobody would notice if I didn't point it out.

What bucket said,
Good used GM is always best.
Everything can be repainted.
If your lens don't work out, the re-pop lenses are pretty good.
This is how my 77 turned out after re painting.
The Red is called "Firethorn" red for 77
It appears orange in the picture but it's red.
A good automotive paint supplier can mix it.

A few years ago I restored my entire interior with 95% of it being LMC stuff and was very happy with the fitment and quality of it. If you can find solid OEM replacements then that is the best way to go but if not I'd not hesitate to buy from LMC Just my .02 cents
