No, makes sure the parts are clean and assemble immediately. As far as I know the only seals with tack up times left are going to be the like the old blue stuff and honestly there is no reason to be using that anymore. Regular black, gray and right stuff is just light years ahead.

Won't make it any harder.

I think for me part of it is my weight, and folding myself up for the amount of time it takes to do an intake manifold is difficult so it takes longer. Also when pulling an intake that hasn't been off in 20 years, even if nothing goes wrong it just takes a great deal of extra time being clean and making sure nothing gets in the valley as I pull the intake off.

No kids for me, but that sounds like the way to. Plus it's way easier on your back!
Thank you good sir! Considering I just blew a disc in my back 6 weeks ago, it's the only way to get this done. It's a win-win!

Thanks for the replies everyone!!

Another quick question. When I installed the existing intake, I used a set of FelPro Vortec gaskets (MS-9800T) with the impregnated rubber to use for the intake swap. And that's what I ordered for the intake swap. That being said, I actually have two questions:

1. I've read that these are reusable. I've never reused an intake gasket before. Well, once, but it was an emergency job and it held up. If it matters, I only have about 1000 miles on the existing FelPro gaskets.

2. Is it possible to just order the intake gaskets individually, or do I have to buy the whole kit again (for future reference)?

Thanks again y'all!

Intake gaskets are sold separately, just need to know if rectangle or oval intake port . Take a picture to take with you to auto parts store of your choice . Replace them to do job right the first time, not twice . You can lay your bead of sealer on the ends , make it high enough to squish out a little, drop the intake on, torque down bolts , cast iron intake middle bolts out to the ends , aluminum intake torque end bolts to the middle . Tip look at the end gap before removing intake to estimate the amount of sealer needed on the ends, also lay a little extra in the corners next to the heads . You got this

I would not try to reuse, simply because I think it's good self insurance that they won't leak by replacing them. I wouldn't want to do the job twice if it leaks, would you?

I have reused the intake gaskets many times, and they hold up just fine. If they are old, then it would be worth replacing them. The gaskets are cheap to buy on Amazon, but they are also easy to replace. So re-use, replace, take your pick.

I like to do it on just the front and the rear, instead of using the rubber valley gaskets. So just a nice thick bead of high quality RTV like right stuff. The rubber pieces IMO are to easily bumped out of place, but if you are going to use those rubber valley pieces then it's just put in the corners. Again highly recommend just using a high quality RTV, and I think most folks here will agree with that.
