Just joined the square body club 2 months ago when I bought a too good to be true 83 dually in GREAT shape for a ridiculously low price. It just passed the onerous California smog test and seems to run good, lots of new and rebuilt mechanical, and body/interior have no serious flaws. Tires are almost new. The problem is I need a lil help with the intake. It's an after market aluminum (not sure the make, can't find any markings) and due to (I think) dissimilar metal erosion, it was eaten out at the heater fitting. It leaked onto the manifold galley. I cold repaired it without removing it with JB (great stuff) and some stop leak but I think it's still leaking internally as the water level is going down after 100 or so miles. Trying to find a OEM non-egr (EGR is routed to the smog pump) intake to replace the washed out one. Anybody have one that they aren't in love with? It's not a "have to have" and I can take my time finding one. I'm not sure if it's oval or square ports but I'll pop the valve cover and check the head casting numbers to verify. Also, if I'm way off base on OEM and there is a better non OEM one that will pass California smog BS please advise.....

to pass california smog your intake needs to support what your VECI label says. could you show us that sticker.

Thanks, I like it a lot. The emission label is missing, I was hoping someone here would know what an 83 needs. I have the original sticker showing options but no other info.

Can I see that sticker? Also you have a 1983 c30 drw long bed conventional cab. Is it a 350? What trans? If I was wrong about it being 2wd, tell us your specs. Does it have 2 smog pumps? Perhaps a computer controlled carb or evidence of one at all? Anything look original that looks emission related that you can tell?

It's a 454 with a 400 trans, one smog pump with an EGR inlet on the top. No computer, never had one and it just passed smog 2 weeks ago. Just want to make sure it will continue to do so. Here's the option sticker.

It varies. In 1981 there was something like 8 different setups from what I was told by the guy at the smog shop I go to. Have you checked out the Library to see if there is maybe a sticker there that may match your setup?
