In search of th400 kickdown switch and such

It's not really adjustable. It auto adjusts with a little ratchet thingy inside it. You flick it and it releases and comes all the way out. Then you put the pedal all the way to the floor and it ratchets in and adjusts to a certain percentage of full throttle.


See, thats gonna be an issue,WOT downshifts are gonna be too violent.
Maybe i just need a momentary switch or something on the steering wheel?

That's what I'd do. You can get a momentary switch pretty easy and wire it up to do the kickdown. Then you only downshift when you actually want to.

I'm not super familiar with kick downs, pr automatics for that matter, because pretty much all my trucks are manual.
But I'm just thinking here...
Maybe you could get what you need from a 90s Chevy.
My buddy has a 92 3500 with a fuel injected 454 and a TH400.
Sounds like you're same setup. May you could get what you need from a truck like that at the junkyard.

First I have seen or heard of that.
I think it has to do with the test Shaggy was/is running. If so, just a temporary issue.

From what I remember, the newer trucks have an ecm controlled kickdown, based on engine load and TPS feedback.

@idahovette @Bextreme04 is this something you have to kinda adjust for your kickdown/shift point? I hope it is.... until i have fat tires and a locker, this switch will singlehandedly make drivability pretty violent.... when i was doing about 45, i manually downshifted to see what would happen, the tire broke loose, barked and spun HAHA
I am hoping i can set the throttle position that causes the kickdown

So it appears the little peg sticking out gets contacted by the pedal arm and then completes the circuit?

most of the quality efi should allow you to build a function if not have it put there specifically for th400 and efi swaps which I assume are rather popular combos for power pushers. would imagine it would need cold numbers inputed that you would have to best guess and then adjust possibly. But, there is always the mechanical simplicity of a direct switch that doesnt have to go through or process it just does
