Probably be gooid to go to a reputable trans shop and see ask how the different colored springs affects shifting and get one that will suit Your driving habits then see how it shifts and functions wit the new spring.

Ok so i spoke with a few diffrent transmission shops here in Oakhurst and in Fresno they both said very similar things the guy in Fresno said to bring it to him and he will test drive it and adjust the TV cable and he thinks he knows what the problem is and can tell me for sure if he test drives it and he also told me it would be a good ideal to add a shift kit in it from Trans Go and that will replace the spring i belive that is worn out also he said that it sounds like the TV plunger behing the spring and valve thing i had mentioned before could be getting plugged up with some kind of debris which is also what the transmission shop up by my house said to they also said i may need to rebuild it and that would range from about $1000.00 to $1400.00 and thats with the shift kit installed so now i have no clue what to do i did see some clutch debris in the pan after draining the fluid out but the fluid still smelled good so it would be nice to know what my next step should be.

Why is that.. everything I read on a mild shift kit is that it will prolong transmission life

Hey HR...have you heard anything, good or bad about that kit that keeps the trans at about 200 or so psi? gets rid of the TV cable.

That seems to be pretty high pressure and would probably make some for some pretty harsh shifts.

I'm not against Stage 1 shift kits at all for any vehicle, especially heavier trucks or something that might be towing. In the 700r4, they actually are an improvement. The reason they claim to make transmissions last longer is snappier shifts yet not harsh until you get into the Stage 2 kits usually, which then can be hard on U Joints and Transfer Cases. Snappier shifts means less wear and less heat during a gradual soft shift.

Damn, sucks to hear this off and on again BS. It does seem you've narrowed down the problem to the TV Cable and/or TV Circuit. This is NOT a common failure of the 700r4. As much as you've struggled with this trans, I'd be about afraid to make a suggestion now and it be wrong.

So now much is the guy wanting to charge that want's to road test, drop the valve body and install a Trans Go kit? What is his price for Rebuild?
