I have no idea where to post this question, sorry if i double posted. but I want to get your opinion on a truck I will soon be purchasing. It's a 85 gmc 3/4 ton 4x4 with 14 bolt rear, 44 front, 400 trans, 208 transfer and 35" tires. It has a 355 that was previously on a sand drag that ran 300 ft in 4.99 sec. only ran on premium and supposedly a high rpm horsepower motor. I will be paying $2500. I am going to look at this sunday, from the pictures it looks to be rust free as well.

Not sure if 2500 is a good price but looks like a cool truck :)

I'm not trying to be a smartass here (that will come later) but I don't see the question here. You've given the specs on the truck and gave the price and said you are going to buy it. Is the question "Is this a good deal?" or "Should I buy this truck?"?

It sounds like a fun truck but I won't comment on the price. Did I miss where you needed an opinion though?

A sand drag motor will not be happy on the street or out four wheeling. Drag motors are built for one purpose, full throttle blasts down the track. While it can be fun that's not going to last long on the street. That's my opinion though and if the body is in as good a shape as it looks from the pics its not to hard to retune the motor and put a different torque converter in.

I don't know how prices are in your neck of the woods, but in Indiana a truck in that decent of shape would sell for more than 2500.00. Ive been looking for a good bed for my 85, and they are bringing 1000 to 1500. And if the motor is actually a really hot motor, take it out, sell it, buy a mild motor and install....might sell the hot motor for more than the replacement one would cost.
