I'm betting those cam bearings will last another 100k...
Granted I am not the expert on cam bearings but the ones in the LH6 I put in the square didn't look like that, at least not that I remember. I broke the rules and looked at that one too lol

Talked to a couple machine shops about hot tanking and putting cam bearings in, they want $300+ for that. My coworker has the tool and I have bore brushes so I’m just gonna do it all.

Also decided against the flat top pistons and 799/243 heads I was contemplating. Not worth the $500+ for this setup since I plan to build a stroker 6.0 later down the road. So standard rings, main/rod/cam bearings, new cam, converter from the blue truck and slap it back in.

So I'll finish tearing the bottom end down tonight and get parts ordered, come up to the shop tomorrow to clean the engine bay and work on the re-loom of the harness. Maybe start working on the body lift and front suspension. Then reassemble the motor next week.

You got a catch can on this truck? It will help deter some of that carbon in the CC.

Worked on getting the bottom end apart after work today. Started by cleaning off the tops of the pistons with some Gunk and a wire brush

Pulled the pistons. Little wear on the bearings but not bad.

Started today off by opening some of the parts I’ve ordered the last week. My China-Kool 40k cooler got THROWN by the Amazon guy  Thankfully it was ok, just had the hardware bag busted open

Missing 2 washers, otherwise everything else was good

Took the crank out and lightly scuffed the cylinders with a red scotchbrite with some WD40 just to knock down the chocolate milk/oil/water stuff that was there from washing the engine off. Then wiped everything out and coated the cylinders in some oil before laying the crank back in and re-covering block

Then cleaned up the oil pan. Almost no schmoo in the bottom, awesome! Forgot to take an after picture but it cleaned up beautifully

Decided to light up a cigar after lunch as I started working on the re-looming. Was also listening to the Dale Jr Download, listened to 2 episodes with Chocolate Myers and 2 with Richard Childress. Love listening to stories from these guys from my childhood

I had originally planned to re-loom the entire harness, but didn’t have enough braided loom. So I just focused on what was completely crumbly

I really didn’t have a lot of energy today, just kinda piddled around. Once I got the looming done, I decided to piddle with the toolbox for a bit. I’ve been meaning to bolt my end cab onto the 56” so I finally drilled some holes and did that.

Marked the holes before I removed the 15”

Holes drilled

Hung it back, lifted the whole thing enough to remove the steer wheels so I could throw the bolts through and tighten them, put the wheels back on, then also decide to drill some holes to reinstall my handle. It’s MUCH easier to move around now
