BAM! That was it!! I just didn't get the bearing seated. Pattern is back where it was the first time I tried this .038 pinion shim! (well, the paint is a little different consistency but the focus of the contact patch is in the same spot)

Only thing I lack is enough fluid, I'll have to get that tomorrow. But I'm gonna put it all the way back together tonight. Maybe dump the 1qt I have in it and run it on the lift just to see if it makes noise...maybe...idk if I'm ready for that lol

Got the pinion in with the crush sleeve and pinion seal, torqued down and landed at 18-20in/lbs of drag. Installed the carrier one last time and double checked everything. Double checked torque on the ring gear bolts, checked backlash one more time and ran one more pattern for peace of mind. It's good!!

It spins smooth, carrier preload I guess is ok? There again, something I didn't measure when I tore it all apart but this time I made extra effort to land at the same overall carrier shim pack that the OE's were, .4785" and as far as I can tell it seems to like it. I spun it with a drill and had no noise whatsoever. Decided against running it on the lift tonight cuz the only fluid I have is what I've run before and only half-ass filtered. Don't wanna risk it over $30 of fluid.

Installed the driveshaft, just have to pick up some more fluid and axle seals tomorrow and I'll button her up and take her for a spin!
