This turned out great! I want to try it when I get around to the dash but I'm doubting it will turn out nearly as good.... I have a tendency to screw up projects because i get impatient...

Thanks! I have a tendency to rush things as well. I'm getting better about it though.

The raptor liner can be layed very flat. All depends on the pressure you spray and how you do it. That is why it was suggested.

I'll take your word for it because I've never used or even seen the stuff. Usually the stuff you spray through a gun has big texture bits in it so it would be rough no matter what.

Cheap Alternative with surprising results. I could live with that.

Dash replacement

Can anyone suggest where I might be able to pick up a complete dash? I don't have the patience to go through all that. Only place I have seen so far is LMC Truck Parts. I just started to refurbish my 1987 K20. The dash is in really bad shape. It has to go!!

Just happened to come across this thread after I had done mine.

Did a lot of the refinish very similar but finished it with plasti-dip and a roller. If you use their primer, its nearly permanent, looks almost like the original. Used a vinyl leveling compound as a top coat as it was flexible and fairly sandable. Ended up using a quality glazing putty to finish some areas as it was easier to sand.

That turned out fairly good. How does this end up being as far as weight?

The more the better! Im trying to add as much weight as possible up front to make my springs ride better. I sure miss the old 6.2 for ride quality reasons.

I was thinking of getting it to where your ready to spray on the finish but then using real Vinyl, a heat gun and contact cement ?
