Similar problem on mine. Had it towed home, set up to do a whole crapload of diagnostics (bumped somestuff around in the process) and, bang, it started. Turned out the green starter wire came loose from the firewall connector on the engine side. Cleaned up that area, reinstalled the wire, no problems ever since.

If you just need a quick workaround, you can buy one of these or make one. Its just a way to manually activate the starter. On the solenoid - clip one onto the S and one on the B. Press the button and the starter kicks on.
