Hi team

I have a 454 with a performer intake

I’m changing the carb from a 600 holly to a 750 vac secondary

The new (and old in place) gasket covers a decent amount of the intake opening. See photos

Is this normal? Do the performers take a special gasket?

Should I cut the gasket back so the interior profile matches the intake?

Thank you again everyone
Bryan

The performer manifolds are designed for use with a spread bore or a square bore carb. When using a square bore carb, there's a flat plate that should be used to ensure a good seal.

Got it Thanks!

PO set up with “regular” open square gasket. Blocking some of the opening.

The truck idled crappy. Think this may have contributed to that?

Blocking some of the opening isn't an issue in this case. But, you may have had a vacuum leak due to the mismatch of mounting surfaces.
